I noticed that there are some universe-related api missing in zipline but used on quantopian like update_universe, set_universe, etc. Is there some reason for this disparity? Because of my not-so-good network conditions, writing code in quantipian ide is a terrible experience for me. I like to do most of coding on my desktop with the zipline, when it is done, I could deploy them up on your platform and trade live. So I hope the difference between zipline and quantopian is as less as possible. It would be much better that we can write the same code and run it under the different runtimes.

The reason has mostly been expediency. Often it's been easier/faster to write code in a less generalized, more Quantopian-specific way, e.g. tied to a vendor or some infrastructure implementation, etc. So unfortunately some features have been built that only work on Quantopian, at the expense of the zipline project and downstream consumers. We've made lots of progress making features work both inside and outside Quantopian, and some API functions have moved to zipline, but not all. There are issues open in zipline for others, but I don't know when they'll be fixed. Definitely bump or open an issue for a given feature, so we'll know which ones people are interested in.
