When displayed, we see:
Equity(26956 [PHH])
Equity(2921 [VCI])
Is there any way that I can convert a security object into one of these to make lookups easier?

After transposing, returning an entry worked by:
context.dfT.iloc[context.dfT.index.get_loc(sec)]
Method 2
Wow, Method 1 was really slow. Here, I convert to dictionary in begin_trading: with
context.pool_dict.update(context.df.T.to_dict())
, and then do something like
sector = context.pool_dict.get(sec).get('morningstar_sector_code')
Method 3
This one came from a collegue:
context.dfT.loc(sid)['morningstar_sector_code']
get_fundamentals() in the backtester returns a pandas dataframe.
Each column of the dataframe is a separate security.
Each row of the dataframe is a different metric.
Typically, I use methods akin to Method 3 (with our without the transposing) depending on what I need.
If you're not familiar with pandas, I'd recommend trying out an introductory tutorial like 10 minutes to Pandas. We have a version as a tutorial in Quantoian research: https://www.quantopian.com/research/notebooks/Tutorials%20and%20Documentation/Tutorial%20-%20Manipulating%20Data%20with%20Pandas.ipynb
