Is this my own algorithm error?

Same here! What happened!?!?!

Mine too. Seems like a Quantopian side issue.

There was a problem with a database on our end that caused several live trading algorithms to lose connection to their broker. Our engineering team is currently looking into the problem. To track the issue on Quantopian, please visit status.quantopian.com.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

Will the live algorithms that error'd be put back live - or will we have to do that?

I had to log back into my broker, but the status page says all algos will start again tomorrow, regardless. If you would like to run it today, they suggest the good ol' "turn-it-off-and-back-on-again" fix.

The default behavior tomorrow is that algorithms will be restarted and run again tomorrow.

If you don't want the default behavior, please let us know (we also have emailed everyone who is doing broker trading).

As Brandt said, if you want it trading today, then "turn-it-off-and-back-on-again" is indeed the right step.

We're sorry for the inconvenience.

@Dan, what happens exactly to an algorithm that is started after market open? Will before_trading_start be called anyway? Also I imagine the algorithm must be robust enough so that it doesn't assume the first time handle_data is called, it is at market open but it might be later on.

So what about competition algorithms?

From the link:

Contest entries and zipline algorithm owners don't need to do anything. Their algorithm will start as normal tomorrow.

But disqualified...

It sounds like they will reverse any disqualifications due to the outage, but it may be good to hear this from an official source.

Yes, we will re-qualify contest algos affected by the problems this morning.

Luca, an algorithm started mid-day starts with initialize() and then before_trading_starts(), and then it starts running handle_data() and/or schedule_functions() starting from the time the algorithm is deployed. It does not process the minutes of the day that are already passed.
