WARN Logging limit exceeded; some messages discarded, why?

Hello,

When I 'm backtesting a strategy, I've got this message, anyone get the same issue? Anyone know how to fix it?

Thanx

shen,

The reason there is a logging limit in place is to protect our data. Financial data is highly valuable and we take steps such as limiting the logging capability to ensure that the information doesn't leak. If there was no logging limit someone might abuse it and use it to print out lots of pricing data. The reason we can offer such quality pricing, volume, and fundamentals data for free is because our data vendors trust us to be responsible and secure.

Cheers,

JC

Thanks, so what's the limit of logging?

Take a look at our help doc (in the logging section): https://www.quantopian.com/help#ide-logging

Here's an excerpt:

Logging is rate-limited (throttled) for performance reasons. The basic limit is two log messages per call of initialize and handle_data. Each backtest has an additional buffer of 20 extra log messages. Once the limit is exceeded, messages are discarded until the buffer has been emptied. A message explaining that some messages were discarded is shown.
