Two Factor Authentication Available for your Quantopian Account

We now support two-factor authentication (2FA) for your Quantopian account. If you choose to enable it, your account will require both a password and an authentication code to login.

We added this feature because passwords can be hacked and stolen; if a hacker gains this single piece of information, the hacker can access your account. With 2FA, you are much more secure. The only way someone can sign into your account is if they know both your password and have access to your phone.

You can setup 2FA via SMS or Google Authenticator, or both. These methods require a smartphone and you can switch between them at any time.

To enable 2FA, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to your account
  2. Click the Two-Factor Auth tab
  3. Choose your method (SMS, Google Authenticator, or both)
  4. Copy and save your backup code

We strongly recommend that you save your back-up code in a secure location. If you lose your phone and can’t login via SMS or Google Authenticator, your last resort is to login using your back-up code. Without your phone and this code, you will not be able to login to your Quantopian account.

We’re working hard to maintain high security standards and to keep your account and intellectual property secure.
