Any plan to support other languages such as R , java or C#?

Alex, Quantopian's platform is entirely in Python (for research, backtest, and live trading) and we don't have plans to add additional languages. We chose Python because it's easy to build an event-driven system whereas the others you mentioned in the list are much harder for this information style. If you're looking for calculations similar to R, take a look at the scipy libraries. Numpy, pandas, and scipy have similar functionality and are easy to manipulate.

Python also has a large open-source community. We open-sourced out backtesing engine (Zipline) along with many other projects we created. And we always welcome pull requests and new features from the community!
