I am a Python beginner and I am learning how to use Quantopian as well. This might be a silly question but I do not know how to pull the price of an index like S&P 500. I only found the function to get one specific stock. Please help me!

@LX Y First off, welcome to Quantopian!
Quantopian doesn't provide index data directly. One can't trade an 'index' and generally the only OHLCV data which is provided is for tradable securities. However, a common practice is to use the price of an ETF which tracks an associated index. In this case, one could use the price of SPY as a proxy for the SP500 index. There are ETFs which track most of the major indexes such as the Russel 1000 (IWB) and the DOW (IYY). This actually has the benefit of including dividends in the price (ie ETFs are split and dividend adjusted) so longer term gains of an ETF are more equatable to the gains of the associated stocks. Some indexes include dividends in their calculations (eg SP500) while others do not (eg DOW) which may have an impact depending upon what one is trying to accomplish.
