Runtime error with record

The following simple algorithm gives me a peculiar runtime error:

def initialize(context):
    order(sid(2174), 1)

def handle_data(context, data):
    b = 1
    if b is not None:
        record(b=b)

"Something went wrong on our end. Sorry for the inconvenience." without any further details.

Hi Samuel,

The problem lies in your ordering method, not in record. Your orders can only be specified in handle_data() function, not in initialize(). Ideally we would have given you a more descriptive error!

This code will work:

def initialize(context):
    pass

def handle_data(context, data):
    order(sid(2174), 1)
    b = 1
    if b is not None:
        record(b=b)

Hmm, I must have narrowed down the wrong thing then. I have a big, messy algorithm that errors when I include a particular record statement and runs fine otherwise. I'll try to figure it out.

If you want help privately, feel free to email me at [email protected] and I can help you debug the issue. A possible error is record() allows you to record up to 5 custom signals at a time. If you try to track additional signals, you'll receive an error. Perhaps this is related?
