Running multiple backtest using outside script

Is there a way to run a script which can get data from a backtest and modify parts of the program used to run the backtest?

The answer is yes and no. Can you get data from a backtest? yes. Can you modify and optimize parts of the code? yes. Can this be done automatically? not yet.

The research environment hosts IPython notebooks where you have access to all of Quantopian's data and can ran many different analyses. You can import your backtest using the get_backtest() function to examine the orders, transactions, risk metrics, and more. You can also run various parameter optimizations on your variables to find the optimal combinations. This is a bit of a manual process, so there isn't an automated script you can kick off, and we're working to make it more fluid. Enjoy!

Sachin,

Note that you can run multiple backtests in parallel using the backtester/trading platform. It is possible to write your own script as a hack to launch them (I managed to write one using Linux bash), but Quantopian isn't too keen on this, because they don't have a way to regulate the load on their system. As I understand, it could get expensive and possibly degrade overall performance.
