Reversing a losing strategy and still losing?

I have a strategy that performs terribly. Just for the hell of it, I negated all of the order targets (turn buys into sells and vice versa) and it still bleeds money.

What is the intuition behind this? I thought that inverting the losses would produce gains.

If it were that easy, we'd all be rich!

Things to look for:

Frequent trading will up your slippage/commissions and eat your account.
Just because you sold instead of bought doesn't mean you're exiting exactly the same way now.
Only on the simplest of strategies would an inversion of logic invert your P&L.
