Hi i have a question regarding margin account on interactive brokers is it possible to execute an order without using the margin and only your own capital if you have a margin account
if so how do you do it cause when i try to execute order it automaticaly takes capital from margin and charges me with maitnace fees.
I appriciate the help
just use the settled_cash from account object, then you never go into margin ... at least in 99% of the cases
@Peter is correct. Just never place an order for more than the settled_cash. Note that this implies waiting 2 days after closing a position before opening another position. Unless you wait for the proceeds of a sale to settle you won't have that cash to trade. However, IB happily lends you the money in those cases (something like a payday loan) and of course charges a small fee.
