Quantopian Platform as Algo or Quant trading

Hi All,

I recently started checking this amazing platform. I am relatively new trader. I have been trading for last few months live and near to an year including paper trading.

My background
1. Trading - Intermediate , I have up and down weeks / months. Not completely there, but trying to reach
2. Statistics - Basic, but I like the subject and want to learn
3. Programming - Expert - I have been coding for 8 years and can understand and pick up new coding languages.

My question is, do you use Quantopian more as a Quant trading platform or more for Algo trading. I really like the concept of Quant trading with all the research and logical statistics to support same, but it is a lot of work.

I am confused with the steps I should take -
1. Should I use Quantopian (or any other platform) to convert my strategy (trading) into automated Algo trading strategy?
2. Should I learn Quantative concepts first and try to understand and implement Quant trading strategies like Markowitz model, Black Scholes etc. (disclaimer - I dont have any knowledge around these)

I dont want a job in Quant or Algo trading but want to use same for my own trading profits. Also, I am full time working employee so I have time but limited. I generally find time very early morning or late night to educate myself

If anyone still can help, will be much appreciated

Generally it's a good idea to start with what you know.

You should know in advance though that Quantopian doesn't support real money trading on their platform.
