Quantopian Comes to Seattle this Week

We would like to invite you to join us for two of our events in Seattle this week.

Thrifting Alpha Meetup on Thursday, July 13th

Join us for a presentation by Max Margenot, one of Quantopian's Data Scientists, on "Thrifting Alpha: Using Ensemble Learning To Revitalize Tired Alpha Factors." This meetup on July 13th is free, and food and drinks will be provided!

Finding alpha is a constant search in algorithmic trading. New alpha factors are always exciting, but sometimes you can come up with new trading signals simply by applying novel aggregation techniques to familiar factors. In this talk we will discuss using ensemble learning methods to combine individual weak signals into stronger factors and assessing their predictive power for long-short equity strategies.

RSVP and find more info here.

Algo Trading Workshop on Saturday, July 15th

Lecturer Max Margenot will guide you through this hands-on workshop which will provide you with the tools to write and test your own trading strategies.

The workshop will give you a strong foundation to craft a trading strategy. It will:
- Give you the ability to create and backtest your own basic trading strategies.
- Show you how to use algorithmic trading tools that will help you craft your strategies.
- Teach you how to correct for some statistical biases that can disrupt analysis.

We hope to see you there.
