I'm getting an error (no cost_basis attribute) on the following code:
for security in context.portfolio.positions:
if data.can_trade(security):
sell = security.cost_basis + security.cost_basis * .01
order_target_percent(security, 0, style=LimitOrder(sell))
Any thoughts? I just started playing tonight.
Hi Michael, thanks for posting. context.portfolio.positions is a dictionary, keyed by equity, with Position objects stored as the values. When you iterate through a dictionary using a for loop, the variable you specify (security in this case) gets set to each individual key, in this case the equity. cost_basis is actually an attribute of the Position object, so to get to it you need to extract the value from the dict using the key, like this:
context.portfolio.positions[security].cost_basis
