order_percent Still spending more than portfolio has!

I was told to use order_percent as a means of only spending approximately what is available in capital. I've noticed though that with a million in capital, it will continually buy 50,000 worth of each stock well after going through the million dollars. (it even appears to keep buying 50,000 after already buying 50,000 worth of each stock with each passing minute)

Even if I make sure I don't have any open orders for the security about to be bought this happens.

Shouldn't order_percent(s, .05) do ~50,000 and then with the next stock 5% of the remaining 950,000$?

I should also ask, is the stock I purchase each day sold automatically at the end of the trading day?

Thanks,
-William

Hi William,

order_percent is relative to all assets (cash + portfolio value) so that is expected. You might want to take a look at order_target_percent() to achieve a certain allocation.

Stocks are not automatically sold at the end of the trading day. You can use schedule_function() and write a function to sell all stocks (using order_target_percent(stock, 0)) 15 minutes before the close.
