Next ex-div date available as data ?

Hi guys,

i'm wondering if any of you know whether there is any API method that can give you for a given stock say AAPL, and a date X, when is the next ex-dividend date (for example returning date Y where Y>=X) and how much is that dividend that will be paid out ?

If this data is not on Quantopian is there a way programmatically to import external data somehow?

Thnx

Hi Photi,

The pricing data is adjusted for splits and mergers, but not dividends. Those events are added as cash to your portfolio when they occur. The Pipeline API is adjusted for dividends, giving you two ways to look at the data: https://www.quantopian.com/posts/the-pipeline-api-dividends-and-splits-what-you-need-to-know

There isn't a native method to retrieve an upcoming ex-date; this data is only available after-the-fact in your algo.

If you have your own data, you can feed it to your algo, or explore EventVestor's dividend data, which is integrated on the Quantopian platform: https://www.quantopian.com/data/eventvestor/dividends
