Hello,

I am a new user of Quantopian. Though I am versed in programming, I have recently become interested in finance, and especially algorithmic trading. Is there any resources or algorithms that you would recommend for someone just starting algorithmic trading.

Thanks,
Michael

Welcome Michael,

There is a very general category called 'swing trading' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swing_trading) that you could look into. I don't have real-world trading experience, but my sense is that Quantopian would support it well.

You might have a look at http://epchan.blogspot.com/ and the books listed there.

Hi Michael,

Welcome to Quantopian! Take a look at these posts that shared resources to getting started and learn more about algorithmic investing:

Also, Ernie Chan has a great book that serves as a good introduction to the field. If you have other questions feel free to follow-up here or email us at [email protected].

Cheers,
Alisa

Hello;
Also new, use FinViz, BarChart, SSE, and a few others for screening. Interested in creating a signal algorithm. Have created a stand alone that shows day over day etc. as plus or minus events based on predetermined lengths of time. Any helpful pointers? I would like to take some of the labor/time out of my technical trading research.
