New Feature: Search for Backtests, Notebooks

Q Updates

We shipped an improvement to Quantopian's search today. It should be easier to find algorithms and notebooks for you to clone, study, and iterate.

Click in the search bar to see the new options.

  • You can limit your search to posts and replies that have either backtests or notebooks.
  • You can now search within multiple tags. This searches the intersection of the tags (not the union).
  • You can bookmark searches, or share the URL of searches. The search criteria are in the URL.

This enables some fairly complex searches, such as "search for the word 'alpha' in all posts that have a backtest attached and are tagged 'Show Q' and 'pair trade.'"

We're interested in hearing feedback on this search. I'm particularly interested if there is interest in other, deeper searches of shared attachments. If you'd like additional ways to look at shared attachments, please let me know more about what you'd like to see.

What's missing for me is to restrict search by date (only last week or last 3 months for example), or to return results in reverse chronological order. I'm not quite seeing how search results are sorted by relevance.
