Lowly background in finance, where should I start to be part-time algorithmic trader ?

I come from Thailand. My background is in computer engineering, no PhD, just bachelor. I am very interested in algorithmic trading in my part-time. In my country algorithmic trading is a very new topic, no people around me can give recommend and I tried to learn by myself for a while until I found here. I have been learning python for a couple of months for my work and I have tried to back-test my trading strategy(forex market)
only once last month. It's all very new for me.

I wanna ask for your help how to get correct direction to start. What can I do in first journey to become a great part-time algorithmic trader?

Thank you for all of your recommend!

A couple other resources to check out are:

  1. Quantstart. There's a great list of recommended reading (i.e. Ernie Chan's "Algorithmic Trader"), sample strategies with sample code, articulations about the industry...
  2. I haven't taken this particular course yet but will do so probably in the Fall. I have heard excellent things about it and the syllabus seems to suggest it follows a very similar path to Quantopian's lecture structure: https://www.experfy.com/training/courses/algorithmic-trading-strategies

Hope that helps.

Thank you all of you. I feel like I'm going through the sea I haven't seen before! I will do my best!

Hey Borworn, as an aspiring trader, I wish to trade the SET mini futures contract via Algorithmic Trading. I've got a financial/trading background, with minimum programming skill. I've currently just signed up for Quantopian, and would love to hear of your experiences/guide on the way forward.
