looking to learn

Hi community,

I have started trading manually and I am very interested to learn how to do trade using an algorithm. One problem, I have never done any computer coding before. I am trying to work my way through the tutorials to gain a better grasp on what I need to do which is defiantly helping. However I my learning style doesn't lend itself to this (dyslexic) so I was wondering if any of you out there had any pearls of wisdom or wanted to help mentor maybe?

I know my ideas I want to put into place but just don't know how to do it...yet.

Thanks in advanced.

Eddy

Eddy, welcome, here are some tools to learn how to code: https://www.quantopian.com/posts/new-to-this-whole-thing

When you feel comfortable, start walking through the Quantopian tutorials and lectures to learn the API and quantitative concepts. Good luck!

Eddy,

In addition to what Alisa shared, I want to add that you might want to start by learning a bit of basic Python. It will make the rest of the learning curve much easier. I recommend the tutorials on pythonprogramming.net. The tutorials there have written and video, so you can follow along with whatever media best suits your learning style. After that, the Getting Started Tutorial on Quantopian has videos (click 'Watch'). The Algorithmic Trading Tutorial also exists in video format, and was created by the author of the pythonprogramming.net tutorials. Several of the Quantopian lectures also exist on YouTube. Check out our YouTube channel here.

Hopefully the video formats will be more helpful!

Thanks guys, I will get onto them tonight.

I've just noticed this platform allows joint development. Would anyone be willing to help take me through some of the basics using this? It would help to be able to ask questions whilst building some templates.
