Has anyone found any good bear market, oil, or precious metals / mining strategies?

The bear market in commodities is about to end.

For reference see:

I (still) build that once a week from Quandl data and CFTC COT data.

Grains are at multi year lows.
Copper, cotton, coffee -- all way down.
All energy at decadal lows.
Precious metals, all at multi year lows.
Practically the only futures that are up are treasuries, stocks, cocoa and the US dollar.

So, can the dollar remain high for much longer? Possibly. But the COT data says that almost all of the commercial consumers of those depressed commodities are starting to accumulate long positions (indicated by the top yellow line being in its bottom vertical quartile). This might mean that managed futures bets are now beginning their shift back into depressed commodities.

Great post, thanks for sharing. I agree. I think there are alot of deals to be had. I don't know when the bear mkt will end, but if I had some commodity strategies, I'd be ramping them up. By bear market strategies, I was refering to alternative's strategies that could be good in bear stock markets - commodities etc
