Is default commission realistic?

I wonder if the default commission model of 3 cents per share is realistic? Some shares trade at 100$ and some shares trade at 10$. This greatly affects choice of traded securities for quantopian open because it uses the default model.

Not really. I expect to pay under 0.5c/share at IB with cost+. But, it's their contest!

Interesting to think about the incentives, you want to be 'in' the market or your algo drops below those who are, and you want to buy or sell high priced stocks to minimise commission. I wonder if shorting reverse splits would work out?
