At Quantopian, we’ve always taken seriously our responsibility to maintain the security and privacy of our members’ data. In the past, we’ve shared a lot of information about our approach to information security, most notably on our security page, which links back to many of our other writings on the topic.
As the size of our community has grown, our information-security efforts have grown along with it. We’re putting more effort into cybersecurity than ever before, and our platform has never suffered a security breach which compromised our members’ data. That’s a good thing, of course, but “no security breaches” means “no pressing need to talk about security with our community,” so we’ve done less of that.
However, just as we have a lot to say about quantitative investing, we also have a lot to say about security. We’ve therefore decided to start publishing articles about security on a more regular basis.
These articles will only be of interest to some members of our community, and furthermore, we hope that they will be of interest to information-security professionals and technologists who are not as interested in quantitative investing. Therefore, we’re going to publish these articles on Medium, separately from our community forum and blog. You can follow us there, or on Twitter, where we will announce new articles as they are published. You can also follow our Medium RSS feed, if that’s your thing. We’ve already published a Welcome article and an article about two fascinating -- but fake -- job applications we recently received and our efforts to learn what we could about them.
We’d love to chat with you about security on Medium or Twitter, or as always, you can reach our security team at [email protected] or email me directly with your security questions or concerns.
We’re really looking forward to sharing what we’ve learned about security and talking more about it with our community. See you on Medium!
