Ideas Thread

Back again!

Had a few ideas and thought I'd start a thread =)

  • Being able to collaborate with people on an algorithm (multi-user access to the same source, perhaps through invitation from the project lead)

  • An IRC chat room for more informal discussions

  • A private messaging system

  • A library for frequently used blocks of code/functions that can be dropped into an algorithm

  • Manual trade confirmation (Back when I tried this with raw_input() I recollect getting myself into trouble :P)

Also - on an unrelated note - I'm curious about when forex data might be getting added? (Although I know you want to get live trading sorted first)

Adam.

Hi Adam,

That's a great list. The first, third and fourth are on my list - they are great features that I totally want to build!

The second one is new to me. You're the first requester for that, but I'm interested in seeing how much people like it.

I'm not following what you're looking for in the fifth one, talking about trade confirmation. With get_order you should be able to know when an order is filled - but I may be missing the question.

Forex is interesting - we get a lot of requests for that, probably second only to futures. My answer is "next year" but I don't have a better timeframe. We haven't really started the work on those, just some preliminary review work. As you said, live trading of US equities is getting our focus still.
