How to make "asset year over year change" factor?

I wonder anybody can help me on "asset year over year change" factor? I did something liek this. But it does not look right b/c I can't guarantee the last year report would be available on 256 days ago.

class cfo(CustomFactor):
inputs = [morningstar.balance_sheet.total_assets]
window_length = 256
def compute(self, today, assets, out,cash_flow_from_continuing_operating_activities, total_assets):
out[:] =total_assets[-1]/total_assets[0]

Hi Lil,

Do you think you could elaborate on what you mean by "it doesn't look right"? Unfortunately, it's currently only possible to use a window length to specify a lookback as opposed to a number of quarterly reports so it looks like your factor is properly defined. If you're having issues with nans, you might want to consider handling them explicitly like in this example.
