There are a number of people, Jiyuan Wang and Yatharth Narang are two examples, who are in the March contest but not the October contest. I'm probably missing something obvious, but I can't figure out how this is possible. Aren't you automatically entered in both at the same time?
The problem is a technical one on our end. When we start a new month, we need new backtests to calculate the beta. Some algos take longer than others to run - sometimes things like changing data that the algo can't handle robustly, sometimes platform problems. At the start of the month we have a couple dozen in that state. We plug away at them here and there, and as we get the backtest through our servers, we update the leaderboard. I think we're under 5 for the October Prize at this point.
