How can I print on the log the name of the security (not the sid)?

Hello,

How can I print the name (not sid) of the security on the log?

Thanks,

JM

Unfortunately, that isn't possible yet. It's a great feature request that we've heard before, and we'll get to it.

Thanks,

Dan

Hello Joao,

I attached an example that uses a manually created list of the security names, and prints them:

2013-06-10 PRINT AAPL
2013-06-10 PRINT SPY
2013-06-10 PRINT WMT
2013-06-11 PRINT AAPL
2013-06-11 PRINT SPY
2013-06-11 PRINT WMT
End of logs.

So, if you have a short, fixed list of securities, this kind of approach might work for you.

Interestingly enough, this works too. Admittedly it is a hack.

    # Get a security ID
    context.mySecurity = sid(8554)

    # Add the security name to the object
    context.mySecurity.name = "SP500"

    # Later in the code you can access the name as part of the object itself

@Vlatko, that's ingenius.
