Hi from Newbie. . .

I am a python enthusiast (not expert for sure) and did some coding and backtesting
using downloaded data text files.

Very excited to find quantopian.com
Hope to read, learn and create some algorithms here.

I hope very soon data from Indian stock markets are also available on quanotpian.

I want to write 2 algorithms
First one is
--Long only
--buy on Breakout above 1.3*RangeOfLast(20days)+MaxOfLast(20days) #entry can be with StopLoss order of 10days validity
-- exit trailing stoploss of MinOfLast(10 days).

Second one is
-- Long only
-- buy if stock value is above PSAR # it think talib can be usefull but I need some documentation pointers
-- exit trailing stoploss of MinOfLast(10 days).

Any pointers will be appreciated.

Welcome! Here are some resources that will help you get started on your strategy:

  • Do the tutorials to learn the Quantopian API
  • stoploss orders documentation
  • talib documentation
  • Use Fetcher to import external data. You won't be able to trade Indian stocks (we have US equities on the platform) but you can use that data as a signal in your algorithm.
  • Use the debugger to analyze your code and work through any errors

If you get stuck, try searching for previous posts in the community. Good luck with your algo!
