Algorithms and backtest are two separate things. The 'algorithm' will always be the latest version of the code. A backtest is the output of the algorithm run over a specified time with a specified starting cash balance. There can be multiple backtests associated with an algorithm. The backtest URL will have two alpha-numeric IDs like this:
https://www.quantopian.com/algorithms/###/###
The first ID is the algorithm ID and the second is the backtest ID. This URL points to a backtest.
If the URL has only a single ID like this:
https://www.quantopian.com/algorithms/###
The ID is the algorithm ID. This URL points to an algorithm.
When you run get_backtest you must supply a backtest ID and not the algorithm ID. Open the backtest and not the code (which is the algorithm) to see the backtest URL.
Hope that helps.
