General questions about the Quantopia platform for someone who is has little experience being a quant.

Hi,

I'm interested in hearing if my ideas for learning to trade using quantopia are suited for what it provides.

I'm a professional developer and own a small software company. Years back I built several systems for day traders. I worked at many banks and brokerage firms, and have an understanding of the market.

When i worked for these traders, many of them did simple scalping to generate less risky income.

As a learning exercise, I'm thinking of trying to build an automated system that would scalp SP500 contracts or Forex currency pairs.

I have 10 years of experience with C# and no experience with python. To use this quantopia I would have to make an investment in time to learn python.

So my questions are:

1) Does quantopia provide tick or 1-minute candle stick data for SP500 or Forex that would allow me to backtest my model?

2) Does quantopia provide a facility to run my model again a live market in real-time against this 1 min candle stick data.

3) I studied calculus in collage, i know this since i have the textbooks, but don't remember any of it. I believe my skills would be sufficient to use indicators such as volume adjusted moving averages etc, but not sufficient to perform these calculations on my own. Is there a list of all of the built-in indicators.

4) Do you think there is another platform like Quantopia that would be more suited to my needs considering my entry point into this learning journey will be day trading and scalping. In addition, i'm very comfortable with c# which is not supported?

5) I know that python is very popular and therefore many are building libraries and tools for it. Do you think i would be putting my self at a disadvantage by trying to stick with C# in place of python on this or other platforms.

Many thanks for any comments you might have.

I really like this platform and hope your questions will allow me to continue my learning using Quantopia.
