Is there forum search functionality that I am unable to find?
If not, could you add that?
Is there any ETA on other data availablity like futures, forex etc?

We don't have a search yet, unfortunately, but you're right, we should. For now, you can take advantage of google like this: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Awww.quantopian.com+SEARCHTERM where you should replace SEARCHTERM with whatever you are looking for.
Futures and Forex are not yet scheduled. In the very near future you'll see some new backtester features like batch transforms on a larger set of data and universe selection. After that we're headed in the direction of enabling live trading of US securities. Forex and futures are somewhere after that. That's a long way of saying "not this year, looking at sometime in 2013."

Hi Dan...how do you define live trading? With real money, or live paper trading? If it is paper trading, will it be free?
"live trading" means real money. We haven't decided on the actual implementation and how we're going to do that, but we hear a lot of interest for it. Algorithm writing gets a lot more interesting when it moves from an academic exercise into a practical one.
Between today and live trading there is paper trading. The current plan is to make that available for free.
I think it's going to be a real draw to be able to regularly check in and see how your'e doing.

I might just start developing stocks based strategies again just to play around with your platform.
