Facing problem while cloning a lecture notebook

Hi all,

I am new on Quantopian and I am trying to clone the lecture notebooks to experiment with concepts in them. When I click on "Clone Notebook" option - a new tab opens up, some buffering takes place for couple of seconds and nothing happens! The webpage is blank after that.

I am using Macbook Air, Catalina 10.15 and Safari as my browser.

Would be super helpful if the Quantopian community can help me with this.

Best,
Shubham

@Shubham Rathi. First off, welcome to Quantopian but sorry you are having issues cloning notebooks.

I can't tell exactly what the problem is, but I suspect it's a browser settings issue. Quantopian's research environment relies on third party cookies and cross site tracking to protect user's intellectual property. Those two features must be enabled in your browser. Not having these enabled can cause issues. Additionally, for much the same reason, one cannot access notebooks from an 'incognito' window.

For the Safari browser, in preferences, go to the privacy menu. Make sure cross site tracking is unchecked. Reload the page. If that doesn't work, try checking that same box and reload the page. Try that, and if it still doesn't work, uncheck it again (some users have experienced the checkbox seems to work backwards for them).

If that doesn't work, try disabling all extensions, and re-enabling them one a time to find which one is causing issues. If you find one that is causing the Quantopian site to break, try whitelisting Quantopian.com and Dynoquant.com. Those are the two domains that Quantopian uses.

There may be other issues with your network or computer firewall or simply that your browser is not refreshing after settings were changed and working from cache. If all else fails contact Quantopian support at [email protected] for support.

Hope that helps!

Hi @Dan Whitnable

Disabling the "Prevent cross-site tracking" suggestion worked out!

Thank you so much for helping out :)
