Do Technicals beat Fundamentals? This paper seems to show some insight

While I know that Marketwatch isn't the best source for news or investment advice, an article did appear today that caught my attention. It references a new study done in a pretty interesting and closed environment. A show on CNBC always makes recommendation for stocks from both a technical and fundamental view, often from two analysts. The researchers watched a long list of episodes and created two portfolios that invested accordingly to those analysts. For a quick and easy read of the article see here. For the actual paper see here.

What do you guys think? Personally for me, I feel that the discrepancy between returns is too large to ignore but I do feel certain return-series are over/under stated. Once i read the full paper, I might be able to draw better opinions of it.
