I wonder if there is a way of selecting only ETFs in pipeline and possibly getting some metadata (like sector/ country/type etc.)?
The only thing which I found was an indirect filter for lack of capitalization (in the Pipeline tutorial) and the special restriction on leveraged ETFs. But from the point of view of the Pipieline these seem more like hacks. Is there any database accessible in Quantopian which directly addresses ETFs?
Unfortunately, we don't have a dataset that is a definitive list of ETFs.
You're on the right track for the next-best solution. We have Morningstar corporate fundamentals on companies. Pretty much everything else is an ETF of some type or another.
