Difference between P/L & Unrealized ( Live Trading)

Hi ,

Please excuse my ignorance but what is the difference between " P/L' and " unrealized" ??? I started running this algo with my IB ( paper trading) account in March, shouldn't the number be the same ?

@Lionel, In most systems one has realized and unrealized P&L. Realized = booked trades. Unrealized = open position. Total P&L would be those two combined. It appears that in the Q's real time Dashboard P&L = Total P&L. Unrealized would be the potential P&L in your open position. It's not real P&L until you close the trade.

@Market Tech, thanks for elaborating this for me. But the current open trade , is the only trade the algo placed so far. No trade has been closed yet, so shouldn't the numbers be the same ?

Ah, I see. A Q staffer will have to clarify this condition. But I would guess that it's a timing thing. One value shows a near real time snapshot, the other a prior snapshot taken at some time interval.
