I watched some of the videos; I would definitely recommend it. It is a great way to learn the basics of how quantitative hedge funds work and how trading works as well.
Took it last session. It was nice to fill in some knowledge gaps with some structure, and I enjoyed learning python in the process. As noted in the requirements, you should at least be some sort of programmer. The instructor and his TAs are top notch in dedication. Highly recommended!
Hi everybody!
I'm totally new here, but I'd like to recommend the course: is a great introduction to the field, the experience of professor Balch gives great insights, interviews with people from the industry, and opportunities to participate in contests. You have to develop a market simulator, and you can receive also a briefing to the Atificial Intelligence methods applied to forecasting.
I love his electric guitar intros, wonder what he wears in his private life :-)
The course is great, I'm particularly surprised about his open-mind towards technical analysis. I've always more or less dismissed it as black magic but it certainly made me think again. Their exercises are worthwhile too, they've exposed a few week spots in my programming skills. I join the crowd and highly recommend it as well.
Don't forget to check out Andrew Ng's machine learning course, also on coursera.
