Today I tried to submit an algorithm that uses eventvestor earnings calendar data to the contest. However, I haven't subscribed to any premium data on Quantopian. The algorithm was disqualified due to backtesting data not being available since 28 July 2015. Is it only possible to submit an algorithm that uses these data sets to the contest if I have an active subscription for the said data?
This happened with one of my algorithms that used earnings calendar data earlier. If you submit an algorithm with premium data into the contest you gain access to the premium data, so it's not allowed without a subscription. I think you can still get an allocation without subscribing to a premium data set, but you won't be able to see the forward test results.
@Janne: Eric is correct. If a dataset has a premium offering, you'll need to have a subscription in order to live trade or paper trade, including if you want to submit to the contest. However, you can still get an allocation by using the free sample. Algorithms that use the free data will be evaluated normally.

So just to clarify, you ARE allowed to use ANY premium dataset you that you want in the contest, so long as you are paying for the premium data?
Any of the premium datasets that are available in Pipeline are allowed in the contest, as long as you have a subscription. Datasets that are only available via the quantopian.interactive module are not available in the contest because you can't access them in algorithms.
The new FactSet Fundamentals dataset is different than the subscription based datasets. The FactSet Fundamentals integration is available for use in the contest for free with the last year of data held out in research and backtesting.
