Calculating Non-Normal Diffusion?

Normal diffusion for a normal distribution is calculated as diffusion(t) = sqrt(t)*sigma where t denotes time, does anyone know how to calculate diffusion for a non-normal (skewed) distribution?

Separate into lower and upper partial moments to take account of the distribution's asymmetry.
