best trailing stop

On average, what have you guys found to be the best trailing stop percentage in your trading/investing? I've heard 20% is a good one to use. Of course, the optimal percentage depends on many variables, but I'm talking about on average.

Thanks!

Hi Mike, I reply as I'm a trader not a programmer.
20% I think it's too much. Usually on a long term view on a stock/bond a 15% is applied, with a 0.5 step on the trailing.
Also depends if you are using a leveraged account, where a 20% * (leverage) can litterally obliterate the value of the account!
I suggest you a 15/10% w/o leverage, and 2/5% with.
